1Why is Prandimet prescribed?

Prandimet is a prescription drug that contains two active ingredients i.e metformin and repaglinide ,that is meant for oral use. It is an antidiabetic medication that can be prescribed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is recommended to use diet and exercise as advised by your physician. Together, they provide better results in controlling blood sugar level.

2How to use it?

It is recommended to take the dose before 15 minutes of a meal. Swallow the drug as whole,don’t chew ,crush or break the tablet. Don't try to skip the meal after taking a dose as it may lead to hypoglycemia. It is beneficial to take the drug regularly at a same time or exactly as advised by your physician. Dose and duration of a drug is an important factor to get the beneficial result of a drug.

3What if I miss a dose or overdose?

Try to avoid missing a dose, but somehow if you miss any dose due to any reason, then skip that dose and continue with the regular schedule. Don’t take two doses at a time to catch up the missed dose. Consult your healthcare provider, if you have any query regarding your treatment. 

Overdose of prandimet tablets may lead to moderate to severe adverse effects that include hypoglycemia and affects the vision as well as  gastric inflammation may also occur. If you take any overdose of drugs, and realize any side effects, then Immediately consult with your physician or call a poison control centre right away.

4Side-effects:

Some unwanted effects can be shown by prandimet tablets that are referred to as side-effects. Some side effects that are shown by this drug include  blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, stomach pain, confusion, seizure,unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain,irregular heart rate, dizziness. If you notice any side-effect ,then consult with your physician or pharmacist immediately.

5Interactions:

There are various causes of interactions like drugs can be taken with beverages, supplements,or other drugs.  Prandimet tablets may interact with various drugs and diseased conditions and lead to moderate to severe side effects.
