1Why Zovirax is prescribed:-
Zovirax, a common brand name that contains acyclovir as an active ingredient. It is an antiviral medication that helps to slow down the growth and herpes virus in the body. It is prescribed for the treatment of infections that may be caused by herpes viruses, such as genital herpes, cold sores shingles, and chickenpox. It will not cure herpes, but it helps to lessen the symptoms of the infection.
2How to use it?
Zovirax(Acyclovir) is available in the market as a topical preparation. It applies to the affected area and rubs gently five times a day at approximately four hourly intervals for four days, or as advised. Wash your hands properly before, applying the cream. It is usually applied with a cotton swab or your fingers and wash your hands again after applying the medicament.
3What if I miss a dose or overdose?
Try to avoid missing any dose. If you forgot to apply the medicament then don't be panic, apply it as soon as you remember. Talk to your physician or pharmacist and consult about it.
4Side-effects:
Side-effects are the unwanted effects of a drug that may occur due to the active or inactive ingredient present in it. Some of the side effects are temporary burning, stinging, or itching where the medicine is applied, dry, cracked, or peeling lips, dryness or flaking of treated skin. Some other side effects may also occur, consult with your physician if you realize any sign of Side-effects

Interactions may change the activity of the drug or it may enhance the risk for severe side effects. Don't use other medicaments or any cosmetic cream or ointment with the drug to avoid any type of interaction.
