Why Avodart is prescribed:-

Avodart, a branded drug that is prescribed to treat BPH in which the prostate is enlarged in men and they suffer from various problems like difficulty in the urine. Avodart contains dutasteride as an active ingredient that helps to increase the hormone DHT.

HOW TO USE:-

Avodart is generally recommended to take with or without food. Swallow the drug, don't chew, crush or break it. To achieve beneficial effects, use the drug regularly for 3-6 months under the supervision of your physician.

What if I miss a dose or overdose:-

Patient compliance is a major factor to avoid missed doses or overdose. If u forget to take a dose, you can take it later. But assure that the time is not exceeded to the time of the next dose. You can skip the dose if the time is nearer to the next dose. Don't take both doses at the same time to avoid an overdose of the drug.
Overdose of Avodart may cause any severe problems i.e difficulty in breathing, extreme dizziness, fainting. In this case, consult your health care professional as early as possible. Or you can also call any poison control center.

Side-effects of Avodart include various symptoms like impotency, libido, ejaculation disorder, breast disorder. The oral dose of Avodart may reduce the chances of dizziness.

Important:-

Avodart contains a drug called dutasteride (5-alpha reductase inhibitor) that helps to block an enzyme called DHT(Dihydrotestosterone), that is needed for the growth of the prostate. Thereby it results in shrunk prostate and urine is passed without any difficulty.
