Why Strattera is prescribed:-

The drug atomoxetine is sold under various brand names, Strattera is one of them. It is a selective drug i.e selectively used in the treatment of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder i.e ADHD. It also helps to increase attention and decrease hyperactivity in ADHD Patients.

How to use:-

Strattera is an oral drug that can be taken with or without food. To increase the efficacy of Strattera it can also be given with some stimulants. It is more beneficial if you take the dose each day at the same time.

What if I miss a dose or overdose:-

If u forget to take a dose, you can take it later. But assure that the time is not exceeded to the time of the next dose. You can skip the dose if the time is nearer to the next dose. Don't take both doses at the same time to avoid an overdose of the drug. The overdose of Strattera is generally nontoxic. A single overdose may not leads to death but some severe symptoms are shown including G.I.symptoms, dizziness, tremor, tachycardia, seizures. To prevent the absorption of the drug, activated charcoal is given, to overcome symptoms of overdose. In this case, consult your health care professional as early as possible.

Side-effects:-

Nausea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, dizziness, liver problem, stroke psychosis, etc.

Interactions:-

Drug interaction may lead to a decrease or enhance the potency of a drug. So it is better to describe your medical history to your physician, so they can balance the dose of that drug to avoid any interaction. Strattera may interact with other directors as well as an indirect sympathomimetic. Aspirin, diazepam, warfarin and Mao inhibitor like pseudoephedrine can also interact with this drug. In vitro, can't affect the binding of plasma proteins. There are only a few interactions are given, for all of the interactions consult to your pharmacist.

Precautions:-

Avoid any alcoholic beverages. Avoid driving and any other work that needs alertness. Not to be taken without a prescription or any consultation with the physician. If you have any liver or kidney disorder then tell it to your health care professional. If you take any herbal or allopathic, cardiac medication then tell it to your physician or pharmacist. Tell to your physician if are allergic to any active or non-active ingredients of this medication.
